Heredity gave dogs voices but there are steps to correct most of the sounds that come from dogs. Dogs in Cook County that bark at the noise of the house's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught a greeting ritual. It is their job to bark when a stranger comes to your Cook County door but you should teach them that an OK command from you means you have the situation under control and your protector can stop making noise.
Another concern we hear from dog owners is the barking at objects such as a shovel or rakes. These are all things a dog can learn to live with quietly. Running the property lines and barking at your Cook County neighbors and their dogs is not acceptable bad dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild shock collar so you can correct your dog from inside the house. It really doesn't take long for them to learn.
It's important for you to remember that a dog's hearing is over 200 times better than your hearing. He can hear a squirrel running up a tree. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your dog when it's time to be quiet when they hear the proper command.
