Heredity gave dogs voices but there are ways to control most of the sounds that come from dogs. Dogs in Chicago that bark at the sound of the family's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught a greeting ritual. It is their job to bark when a stranger comes to your Chicago house but you should train them that an "okay" from you means everything is fine and your protector can stop making noise.
Another complaint we hear from dog owners is the barking at objects such as a shovel or rakes. These are all things a canine can learn to live with quietly. Running fence lines and barking at your Chicago neighbors and their dogs is not acceptable inappropriate dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild zap collar so you can correct your canine from inside the home. This unacceptable dog behavior can be corrected in a short period of time.
Most importantly, you must remember that a dog's hearing is over 200x better than your hearing. He can hear the sound of a child riding a tricycle several houses away. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your dog when it's time to be quiet when they hear the correct signal.
If your dog barks too much and this is an issue you would like to correct, please give Frank Allison, dog trainer a call or click to set up an appointment. Frank would be happy to schedule a private session in your Chicago house.
