Heredity gave dogs voices but there are ways to control most of the sounds that come from man's best friend. Dogs in Matteson that bark at the noise of the family's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught your preferred doggy behavior. It is their job to bark when a stranger comes to your Matteson door but you should train them that an "okay" from you means everything is fine and your protector can stop making noise.
Another concern we hear from pet owners is the whining at objects such as a broom or wheelchairs. These are all things a pet can learn to live with quietly. Running fence lines and barking at your Matteson neighbors and their dogs should not be tolerated inappropriate dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild shock collar so you can correct your pet from inside the home. This unacceptable dog behavior can be corrected in a short period of time.
Most importantly, you must remember that a dog's hearing is over 200 times better than your hearing. He can hear your car coming from over a block away. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your dog when it's time to be quiet when they hear the correct signal.
If your dog barks too much and this is an issue you would like to correct, please give Frank Allison, dog obedience trainer a call or click to set up an appointment. Frank would be happy to schedule a private session in your Matteson house.
