Heredity gave dogs voices but there are procedures to control most of the sounds that come from dogs. Dogs in Sauk Village that bark at the noise of the family's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught a greeting ritual. It is their job to bark when a stranger comes to your Sauk Village door but you should train them that an OK command from you means you have the situation under control and your protector can stop growling.
Another concern we hear from pet owners is the barking at objects such as vacuum cleaners or walkers. These are all items a dog can learn to live with quietly. Running the property lines and barking at your Sauk Village neighbors and their dogs is not acceptable inappropriate dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild zap collar so you can correct your canine from inside the from a distance. It really doesn't take long for them to learn.
It's important for you to remember that a dog's hearing is over 200 times better than your hearing. He can hear the sound of a child riding a tricycle several houses away. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your dog when it's time to be quiet when they hear the correct signal.
If non-stop dog barking is an issue you would like to correct, please give Frank Allison, dog obedience trainer a call or click to set up an appointment. Frank would be happy to schedule a private session in your Sauk Village home.
