Heredity gave dogs voices but there are steps to correct most of the sounds that come from your pet. Dogs in Prospect Heights that bark at the noise of the house's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught a greeting ritual. It is their job to bark when an unknown person comes to your Prospect Heights house but you should train them that an OK command from you means you have the situation under control and your protector can stop making noise.
Another concern we hear from pet owners is the whining at objects such as a broom or wheelchairs. These are all things a canine can learn to live with quietly. Running fence lines and barking at your Prospect Heights neighbors and their dogs should not be tolerated bad dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild shock collar so you can correct your canine from inside the home. This unacceptable dog behavior can be corrected in a short period of time.
It's important for you to remember that a dog's hearing is over 200x better than your hearing. He can hear a squirrel running up a tree. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your pet when it's time to be quiet when they hear the proper command.
If your dog barks too much and this is an issue you would like to correct, please give Frank Allison, dog obedience trainer a call or click to set up an appointment. Frank would be happy to schedule a private session in your Prospect Heights home.
