Heredity gave dogs voices but there are ways to control most of the sounds that come from your pet. Dogs in Bedford Park that bark at the sound of the house's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught a greeting ritual. It is their job to bark when a stranger comes to your Bedford Park door but you should teach them that an OK command from you means you have the situation under control and your protector can stop making noise.
Another complaint we hear from pet owners is the whining at objects such as a broom or tractors. These are all things a dog can learn to live with quietly. Watching out the window and barking at your Bedford Park neighbors and their dogs is not acceptable bad dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild zap collar so you can correct your canine from inside the house. This unacceptable dog behavior can be corrected in a short period of time.
It's important for you to remember that a dog's hearing is over 200x better than your hearing. He can hear your car coming from over a block away. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your dog when it's time to be quiet when they hear the correct signal.
If non-stop dog barking is an issue you would like to correct, please give Frank Allison, dog behaviorist a call or click to set up an appointment. Frank would be happy to schedule a private session in your Bedford Park home.
