Heredity gave dogs voices but there are ways to control most of the sounds that come from man's best friend. Dogs in Markham that bark at the sound of the house's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught a greeting ritual. It is their job to bark when a stranger comes to your Markham house but you should train them that an OK command from you means you have the situation under control and your protector can stop making noise.
Another concern we hear from dog owners is the barking at objects such as a broom or wheelchairs. These are all items a canine can learn to live with quietly. Running the property lines and barking at your Markham neighbors and their dogs should not be tolerated inappropriate dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild shock collar so you can correct your pet from inside the home. This unacceptable dog behavior can be corrected in a short period of time.
It's important for you to remember that a dog's hearing is over two hundred times better than your hearing. He can hear a squirrel running up a tree. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your dog when it's time to be quiet when they hear the correct signal.
If non-stop dog barking is an issue you would like to correct, please give Frank Allison, dog behaviorist a call or click to set up an appointment. Frank would be happy to schedule a private session in your Markham house.
