Heredity gave dogs voices but there are procedures to correct most of the sounds that come from man's best friend. Dogs in Oak Forest that bark at the noise of the house's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught a greeting ritual. It is their job to bark when a stranger comes to your Oak Forest house but you should train them that an "okay" from you means everything is fine and your dog guardian can stop barking.
Another complaint we hear from dog owners is the whining at objects such as a broom or tractors. These are all things a pet can learn to live with quietly. Running fence lines and barking at your Oak Forest neighbors and their dogs is not acceptable inappropriate dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild shock collar so you can correct your dog from inside the home. This unacceptable dog behavior can be corrected in a short period of time.
It's important for you to remember that a dog's hearing is over 200x better than your hearing. He can hear a squirrel running up a tree. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your pet when it's time to be quiet when they hear the correct signal.
If your dog barks too much and this is an issue you would like to correct, please give Frank Allison, dog trainer a call or click to set up an appointment. Frank would be happy to schedule a private session in your Oak Forest home.
