Heredity gave dogs voices but there are steps to control most of the sounds that come from man's best friend. Dogs in Hometown that bark at the noise of the family's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught a greeting ritual. It is their job to bark when a stranger comes to your Hometown door but you should train them that an OK command from you means you have the situation under control and your dog guardian can stop barking.
Another complaint we hear from dog owners is the whining at objects such as a shovel or walkers. These are all things a canine can learn to live with quietly. Running fence lines and barking at your Hometown neighbors and their dogs should not be tolerated inappropriate dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild shock collar so you can correct your pet from inside the house. This unacceptable dog behavior can be corrected in a short period of time.
It's important for you to remember that a dog's hearing is over 200 times better than your hearing. He can hear your car coming from over a block away. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your dog when it's time to be quiet when they hear the correct signal.
If your dog barks too much and this is an issue you would like to correct, please give Frank Allison, dog behaviorist a call or click to set up an appointment. Frank would be happy to schedule a private session in your Hometown home.
