Heredity gave dogs voices but there are steps to control most of the sounds that come from your pet. Dogs in Oak Knoll that bark at the noise of the house's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught a greeting ritual. It is their job to bark when an unknown person comes to your Oak Knoll door but you should teach them that an OK command from you means you have the situation under control and your protector can stop barking.
Another concern we hear from dog owners is the barking at objects such as a broom or wheelchairs. These are all items a pet can learn to live with quietly. Running the property lines and barking at your Oak Knoll neighbors and their dogs is not acceptable inappropriate dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild zap collar so you can correct your dog from inside the from a distance. It really doesn't take long for them to learn.
It's important for you to remember that a dog's hearing is over 200 times better than your hearing. He can hear the sound of a child riding a tricycle several houses away. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your dog when it's time to be quiet when they hear the proper command.
