Heredity gave dogs voices but there are procedures to control most of the sounds that come from your pet. Dogs in Merton that bark at the sound of the house's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught a greeting ritual. It is their job to bark when an unknown person comes to your Merton house but you should teach them that an OK command from you means everything is fine and your protector can stop growling.
Another complaint we hear from dog owners is the barking at objects such as a shovel or rakes. These are all things a pet can learn to live with quietly. Watching out the window and barking at your Merton neighbors and their dogs is not acceptable bad dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild zap collar so you can correct your dog from inside the home. This unacceptable dog behavior can be corrected in a short period of time.
Most importantly, you must remember that a dog's hearing is over 200x better than your hearing. He can hear a squirrel running up a tree. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your dog when it's time to be quiet when they hear the proper command.
If non-stop dog barking is an issue you would like to correct, please give Frank Allison, dog behaviorist a call or click to set up an appointment. Frank would be happy to schedule a private session in your Merton home.
