Heredity gave dogs voices but there are steps to control most of the sounds that come from canine pets. Dogs in Mapleton that bark at the noise of the house's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught a greeting ritual. It is their job to bark when an unknown person comes to your Mapleton door but you should train them that an "okay" from you means you have the situation under control and your dog guardian can stop making noise.
Another complaint we hear from pet owners is the barking at objects such as a shovel or rakes. These are all items a pet can learn to live with quietly. Watching out the window and barking at your Mapleton neighbors and their dogs should not be tolerated inappropriate dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild zap collar so you can correct your canine from inside the house. It really doesn't take long for them to learn.
Most importantly, you must remember that a dog's hearing is over 200x better than your hearing. He can hear a squirrel running up a tree. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your pet when it's time to be quiet when they hear the proper command.
If your dog barks too much and this is an issue you would like to correct, please give Frank Allison, dog trainer a call or click to set up an appointment. Frank would be happy to schedule a private session in your Mapleton house.
