Heredity gave dogs voices but there are ways to control most of the sounds that come from man's best friend. Dogs in Lake Como that bark at the sound of the house's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught your preferred doggy behavior. It is their job to bark when a stranger comes to your Lake Como house but you should train them that an OK command from you means you have the situation under control and your protector can stop growling.
Another concern we hear from dog owners is the barking at objects such as a shovel or rakes. These are all items a dog can learn to live with quietly. Running fence lines and barking at your Lake Como neighbors and their dogs should not be tolerated bad dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild shock collar so you can correct your pet from inside the house. It really doesn't take long for them to learn.
Most importantly, you must remember that a dog's hearing is over 200 times better than your hearing. He can hear the sound of a child riding a tricycle several houses away. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your pet when it's time to be quiet when they hear the correct signal.
