Heredity gave dogs voices but there are ways to control most of the sounds that come from canine pets. Dogs in Johnstown Center that bark at the sound of the house's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught a greeting ritual. It is their job to bark when a stranger comes to your Johnstown Center door but you should teach them that an "okay" from you means you have the situation under control and your protector can stop barking.
Another complaint we hear from pet owners is the whining at objects such as vacuum cleaners or rakes. These are all things a canine can learn to live with quietly. Running fence lines and barking at your Johnstown Center neighbors and their dogs is not acceptable bad dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild shock collar so you can correct your pet from inside the from a distance. This unacceptable dog behavior can be corrected in a short period of time.
Most importantly, you must remember that a dog's hearing is over two hundred times better than your hearing. He can hear his dog food being taken out of the car truck in the garage. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your canine when it's time to be quiet when they hear the correct signal.
If your dog barks too much and this is an issue you would like to correct, please give Frank Allison, dog behaviorist a call or click to set up an appointment. Frank would be happy to schedule a private session in your Johnstown Center home.
