How Can You Stop The Noise?

Heredity gave dogs voices but there are ways to control most of the sounds that come from dogs.  Dogs in Wind Point that bark at the sound of the house's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught a greeting ritual.  It is their job to bark when an unknown person comes to your Wind Point door but you should train them that an OK command from you means you have the situation under control and your dog guardian can stop barking.

Another complaint we hear from dog owners is the whining at objects such as a shovel or rakes. These are all items a pet can learn to live with quietly. Running fence lines and barking at your Wind Point neighbors and their dogs is not acceptable inappropriate dog behavior either.  This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild zap collar so you can correct your dog from inside the from a distance.  This unacceptable dog behavior can be corrected in a short period of time.

It's important for you to remember that a dog's hearing is over 200 times better than your hearing.  He can hear a squirrel running up a tree.  He will respond with his voice.  You just need to learn how to teach your pet when it's time to be quiet when they hear the correct signal.
