Heredity gave dogs voices but there are ways to control most of the sounds that come from man's best friend. Dogs in Big Bend that bark at the sound of the family's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught a greeting ritual. It is their job to bark when an unknown person comes to your Big Bend house but you should teach them that an "okay" from you means everything is fine and your dog guardian can stop barking.
Another concern we hear from dog owners is the barking at objects such as a broom or walkers. These are all things a canine can learn to live with quietly. Running the property lines and barking at your Big Bend neighbors and their dogs is not acceptable bad dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild shock collar so you can correct your canine from inside the from a distance. It really doesn't take long for them to learn.
Most importantly, you must remember that a dog's hearing is over two hundred times better than your hearing. He can hear your car coming from over a block away. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your pet when it's time to be quiet when they hear the proper command.
