Excessive Barking, Barking, Barking...
How Can You Stop The Noise?
Heredity gave dogs voices but there are ways to control most of the sounds that come from canine pets. Dogs in Edgerton that bark at the noise of the house's doorbell or a knock on the door need to be taught your preferred doggy behavior. It is their job to bark when a stranger comes to your Edgerton door but you should teach them that an OK command from you means everything is fine and your protector can stop growling.
Another concern we hear from pet owners is the barking at objects such as vacuum cleaners or tractors. These are all items a canine can learn to live with quietly. Running fence lines and barking at your Edgerton neighbors and their dogs should not be tolerated bad dog behavior either. This "distance" barking can be corrected through training sometimes needing a mild shock collar so you can correct your pet from inside the house. It really doesn't take long for them to learn.
Most importantly, you must remember that a dog's hearing is over 200x better than your hearing. He can hear the sound of a child riding a tricycle several houses away. He will respond with his voice. You just need to learn how to teach your pet when it's time to be quiet when they hear the proper command.
If your dog barks too much and this is an issue you would like to correct, please give Frank Allison, dog trainer a call or click to set up an appointment. Frank would be happy to schedule a private session in your Edgerton home.
